A suitcase by the door

It’s 2020 ! Happy New Year and Happy New Decade!!

In our family, we have been celebrating the good things that have happened over the past years and also remembering the challenges we have faced, some we have overcome, others we are still in the midst of.

Looking forward, this year holds many exciting opportunities, including one in particular which I would like to share with you: I will be presenting at FIGT 2020 in Bangkok!

Families in Global Transition

FIGT is a forum for globally mobile individuals, families, and those working with them. It promotes cross-sector connections for sharing research and developing best practices that support the growth, success and well-being of people crossing cultures around the world.

#FIGT2020 - Embracing & Bridging Differences will take place from 13-15 March, at ISB International School Bangkok

This year’s conference will bring together almost 100 diverse speakers to examine what it means to live in and with differences and how, as a globally mobile community, we can build bridges that impact not only our personal and professional lives and well-being, but also those who surround us.

Holding the Fort

Does your spouse always have a suitcase by the door? Are you solo parenting in a foreign country while your spouse comes and goes? Can your marriage survive it? How can they prioritise their family if they are miles away?

I am on a mission to explore how a globally mobile family prepares and thrives when one spouse is frequently working away from home. Some spouses travel every week, every other week, or they may even be based in another country from their family entirely. It is often an integral part of our lives and yet it is rarely spoken about in its own right. The project will culminate with a book published in 2021 with Summertime Publishing!

It would be fabulous to be able to meet at the conference!

Early bird rates will be available until January 10, 2020! Register here: https://www.figt.org/event-3596266
